A low-pressure system off the California coast will draw remnant moisture northward across through the region through the end of this week with a chance of showers and thunderstorms at times. Initially we'll experience our more typical diurnally driven afternoon convection. As deeper moisture and instability arrive Wednesday through Friday, numerous showers and thunderstorms will be likely over much of Southern California. Mid and upper-level moisture will begin to increase across our area on Tuesday for a slight chance of an afternoon shower or thunderstorm. Temperatures will remain close to average with highs in the mid-70s, south-southeast winds 5-10 mph at times. Moisture will increase on Wednesday with further destabilization of the atmosphere leading to scattered showers and thunderstorms, especially during the afternoon with highs in the 70s. A disturbance will lift north through the area Thursday as low pressure slides east with widespread showers and storms likely just about anywhere, at any time. This will pull temperatures down as highs cool to the 60s with overnight lows generally in the 40s. We are dealing with tropical moisture and as such, the snow level will remain above 10,000 feet, so we could see our first dusting of the season during the overnight hours up on San G. Low pressure and associated moisture will lift northeast and slowly exit the area with showers and thunderstorms decreasing, becoming more isolated on Sunday and ending by Monday. Thunderstorms are always capable of producing locally heavy rain with strong & gusty winds, frequent lightning and small hail, always head indoors if a thunderstorm approaches your area. Nice fall weather will return next weekend with calmer conditions and near-normal temperatures.
